One project we collaborated in has been the gb1900 gazetteer project. Once you have selected a square, you can use yellow siders to view modern or historical maps. It holds thousands of old maps, including ordnance survey maps of scotland, england and wales from the 1840s to the 1970s, maps of scotland dating as far back as the 17th century, estate maps, town plans and military maps.

The resulting 2.5 million names is the largest ever historical gazetteer. You can view all 1:500 scale plans using a graphic index for england and wales. Over 1.5 million sheet maps.

Very detailed and comprehensive old maps covering all of england, scotland and wales from the late 1500s to the 1950s. Including the first series victorian ordnance survey maps dating from 1805. The overlays have been generated by maptiler / gdal2tiles, with thanks to klokan petr pridal, gdal & osgeo gsoc. Two editions for all areas, and then regular updates in the 20th century for urban or rapidly changing areas.
