Paris, june 13 — the gaia space probe unveiled its latest discoveries today in its quest to map the milky way in unprecedented detail, surveying nearly two million stars and revealing mysterious “starquakes” which sweep across the fiery giants like vast tsunamis. The european space agency’s gaia mission involving ucl researchers has released a new treasure trove of data about our home galaxy, including the largest chemical map ever produced and the full 3d motions of 35 million stars.
